Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to present economic and social development of modern central Europe limited approximately by borders of former Hapsburg monarchy to overlap on East, or southeast to students. After a short outline of the most important economic and social changes which the region underwent in the older period, the course will be focused on detailed interpretation of economic and social processes which stroke central Europe in the 19th and 20th century. The emphasis will be put on description of connections and impacts of European or world development as well as on specific features and diverse dynamics of development in individual central European countries. Following other courses (Totalitarian and Authoritative Regimes in Central Europe, Political Systems II, Question of Democracy II, Cultural Development of Central Europe) the students will be introduced economic and social impacts of incidence of totalitarian regimes in central European countries, with issue of post-totalitarian transformation as well as cultural connections of social changes. The graduates will be able to use theoretical knowledge in interpretation of previous development as well as economic and social changes that the central European countries are nowadays undergoing and will be able to use them in evaluation of possibilities of development of central European regions including international and trans-border cooperation.

    12. Final summary, analysis of economic and social impacts of access into EU in central European countries.
