Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the classification of periodontal diseases, to compare new and old nomenclature, to orientate in individual periodontal diagnoses. In this course the student will learn how to interpret radiographs and OPG images.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: the student is oriented in individual diagnoses, knows the differential diagnosis of periodontal diseases and understands the principles of pathogenesis of inflammatory periodontal diseases.
Professional skills: The student can diagnose individual diseases, can distinguish the level of disability on radiographs and gets acquainted with practical training of sungival shaving.
General competence: the student is able to differentiate individual diagnoses and understand the nature of risk factors, and can examine a periodontal pathology.
Competency: the student understands the origins of individual diseases, can educate the patient about the risks arising from etiological factors and their relationship to overall health.
Syllabus
  • Seminars:
  • 1. Classification of periodontal diseases - healthy periodontal and gingival diseases.
  • 2. Classification of periodontal diseases - periodontitis and periodontal manifestations of systemic diseases.
  • 3. Classification of peri-implant diseases.
  • 4. Bone resorption and radiographic picture of periodontitis.
  • 5. Pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases.
  • Exercise:
  • 1. Periodontal examination,depth measurement,loss examination of attachment, recessions, wobble, furcation. Collection of microbial tests.
  • 2. Basic work with curettes, types of curettes, grinding and maintenance.
  • 3. Practical training of supra and subgingival treatment on models.
  • 4. Other methods of removal of WK - ultrasound, vector, GBT.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Požadavky k zápočtu: 100% aktivní účast na seminářích (studentovi, který se z vážných důvodů nemohl povinné výuky zúčastnit, vyučující určí náhradní způsob splnění studijních povinností). Úspěšné absolvování zápočtového testu předpokládá 80 % úspěšnost.
