- Course objectives
- Students will gain an overview of the operation and functioning of the production company or the company operating in service sector. Understand economic structures in the business unit are subject to the fundamental knowledge about the nature of the enterprise (supply and storage activities, production activities, sales activity). The structure of Business Economics course is based on the idea that the introductory chapter will familiarize students with basic knowledge of business and description of the business and business unrelated to their economic fundamental. Students will learn the basic categories (terms) in the field business economics: company, typology of firms, business environment, basic activities (functions) in a company, company assets, company organizational structure. In the following part of course, students will learn the basic economic concepts of business economics (economic effectiveness, efficiency, costs, revenues, profits, and the principle of balance (balance sheet), break-even analysis, and calculations).

- 1. Characteristics of the company and the nature of the business. Business profile.
2. Morphology and typology of company. The life cycle of the firm and its phase.
3. Business objectives and functions (activities). Company organizational structure. The ownership structure of the company.
4. Purchasing business activity.
5. Manufacturing business activity (including service sector).
6. Sales activities of the company.
7. Human Resource Management. Activity of another department in the company.
8. Production factors and their classification. Consumption of production factors. The cost of the company. Criteria for classification of costs in the company.
9. Cost function. Use of the cost function in managerial decision making.
10. Outputs, income, revenues.
11. Costs, income, profit or loss in the break-even analysis.
12. Cost calculation, methods of cost calculations. Types of calculations.
13. Characteristics of specific business.
