Course objectives
The aim of the course is to present to students freely distributable and commercial portals. Students will get acquainted with the structure, creation, implementation, installation and administration of portals.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to create and manage a simple portal.
Syllabus
  • Web Portal Basics: Characteristics, description and structure of the portal. Use of portals. Portal services.
  • HTML for creating portals: Elements, attributes, headings, paragraphs, styles, formatting, comments, links, images, tables, lists, blocks, classes, identifiers, forms.
  • CSS format for managing portal formatting: Syntax, colors, background, borders, borders and fills, height and width parameters, floating frames and an embedded block.
  • PHP language for portal dynamics: Syntax, variables, echo, data types, strings, constants, operators, if… else… elseif, switch, while and for loops, functions, arrays, forms.
  • SQL language for portal database administration: MySQL database system, installation, administration, import and export of data, SQL language, syntax of basic commands for creating, editing and searching in tables, ERD diagrams, relationships between tables
  • Portal security: Password encryption, PHP sessions, implementation of security tools in the portal, user registration, authentication.

Teaching methods
lectures, seminars, individual project
Assessment methods
Semester project, continuous test, at least 70% participation in seminars, independent work in example appliacations, searching and processing of resources on the Internet, working with foreign language resources. Course evaluation consists of: 25% continuous test, 25% seminar work and 50% exam.
