Syllabus
  • 1. Principles of financing international business
  • Motives for international business. Forms of international business. Tools and specifics of financing international business in domestic markets. Tools and specifics of financing international business in foreign markets.
  • 2. Foreign trade financing
  • Specifics of foreign trade financing. Methods of short-term financing of foreign trade. Methods of medium and long-term financing of foreign trade. Loans in international trade. Alternative financing methods - factoring, forfaiting, leasing. Decision criteria for the selection of foreign trade financing instruments.
  • 3. Financing of foreign trade with state support
  • International business support system and its legal framework. Institutions for support of export financing in the Czech Republic. Insurance, guarantee and credit products provided by Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP) and the Czech Export Bank (CEB). Foreign trade financing support system in the European Union.
  • 4. Financing of foreign direct investments
  • Economic assumptions and forms of foreign direct investment. Financing of foreign direct investment. Investment incentives to support foreign direct investment.
  • 5. Specifics of financing international business of small and medium enterprises
  • Forms of internationalization of small and medium enterprises. Obtaining financial resources for foreign business activities of small and medium enterprises. Institutions providing financial support to small and medium enterprises. Alternative financing options.
  • 6. Foreign exchange risk of international business
  • Foreign exchange risk identification. Open and closed foreign exchange position. Methods of measuring foreign exchange risk. Method of alternative scenarios. Value at Risk method. Hedging of exchange rate risk. External methods of hedging exchange rate risk. Internal methods of hedging exchange rate risk.
  • 7. Cash flow and receivables management in international business
  • Specifics of international cash flow. International cash flow optimization tools. Cost of capital in international business. The importance of international receivables management. The process of managing international receivables - administration, prevention and collection.
