Course objectives
Student will collaborate with a mentor and will prepare an official diploma thesis assignment. The course focuses on the appropriate form and content of a master thesis. Student will be acquainted with the official instructions for writing master thesis in several seminars. Student will also gain deeper knowledge of the basic scientific methods, form of citations and citation ethics. Student will define main topic of the master thesis in consultation with a mentor. The main goal and basis methodology should be also set up. The result of this seminar will be the official master thesis assignment that must be approved by the mentor.
Syllabus
  • Principles of academic writing main goal set up, structure of the thesis, choice of scientific methods
    Formal requirements for writing master thesis, citations and references
    Information resources university library database, work with electronic databases
    Information from individual departments specific requirements for writing master thesis
    Student must fill the master thesis assignment in the IS SU till 31.10.
    Recommended content:
    a) Main goal of the thesis
    b) The research area
    c) Methodology and chosen data
    d) Work schedule
    e) Necessary supplements (optional)
