Degree programme objectives
The study programme is designed for graduates of artistic, humanities-oriented or interdisciplinary bachelor's degree programmes who are interested in deepening their practical skills in the field of artistic creation of audiovisual works (camera, editing, sound design, scriptwriting, dramaturgy, production, directing), expanding them also to cultural management and digital restoration of cinematographic and television works, and acquiring expertise in the history and present of audiovisual and cinematography, new media, marketing and communication. Students have the opportunity to consult and collaborate with professional filmmakers in a professional setting and can thus achieve a high level of readiness for practical work in all areas of audiovisual, especially radio and television production, or for work in other cultural and social institutions. The study programme therefore includes, in addition to teaching the history and theory of audiovisual culture, lectures and seminars on the basics of aesthetics, audiovisual and information technology, copyright, cultural animation, sociology of culture and management. We place great emphasis on practical teaching under the guidance of specialists from practice with the background of the studio, professional laboratories and technical facilities of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Silesian University.

- Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- orient himself in the broad field related to the audiovisual industry: the basics of production work, the basics of camera and editing, sound work and production, directing, scriptwriting, dramaturgy.
- come up with their own creative ideas, develop these ideas.
- find employment not only in television or audiovisual studios, but also in research institutes, laboratories, academic and cultural institutions established by private and public entities, non-profit organizations, regions, cities and municipalities.
- orient himself/herself in the field of newly emerging digital works disseminated via the Internet and the so-called new media (smart tablets, phones, etc.).
- orient himself/herself in the canon of world and Czech cinema and literature, think critically about a work of art and analyse it.
- orient in the field of digitization and digital restoration of audiovisual heritage.
- orient himself/herself in the field of marketing communications - evaluate the market situation, create a swot analysis and media plan, design a communication and media campaign, communicate with the media.
- orient in the possibilities and types of cultural fundraising, in the structure of a complete production of a cultural project.
- possess professional knowledge in the field of film and television production, media, literature and contemporary language and speech, communication, interviewing, working with information.
- Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates will gain expertise in aesthetics, communication, history and present of audiovisual and cinematography, new media, marketing, copyright and working with digitized cinematographic, television and radio works. They will acquire skills in screenwriting, dramaturgy, analysis and interpretation of artworks, creative writing, directing, cinematography and sound design, editing and digital post-production, documentary filmmaking, animation, special effects and digital restoration of film works. It will also orient in the possibilities and types of cultural fundraising, in the structure and complete production of a cultural project. And this with regard to the social and cultural context. These are filmmakers in the fields of dramaturgy, scriptwriting, technical or production, who have both specialized training and a broader overview of cultural history, mass communication and a range of artistic and journalistic genres.
