Abstract |
---|

Abstract (in English) |

Life and institutions of German speaking countries belong inherently to foreign language teaching and that is why this topic should be included in the German language coursebooks. This chapter deals with the question whether this implies to coursebooks used formerly in Czechoslovakia and later in the Czech Republic. Three coursebooks, which have been used since the World War 2 until present days, were chosen for the analysis. First, the attention is paid to the explanation of the term “life and institutions” and due to the requirements of the research, it is also divided into implicit and explicit presentation of life and institutions. Ten German language coursebooks were analysed according to these set criteria and the aim was to find out how and to what extent are life and institutions represented in such coursebooks. The outcomes of the research showed the representation of life and institutions of German speaking countries until 2015 is more implicit than explicit. |
