Abstract

V originále

This paper looks at the seemingly well-established term jazz poetry. It briefly outlines the history of musical inspirations in literature, and provides some necessary background as regards the emergence of the jazz poetry phenomenon in the 20th century. It then looks at a number of jazz poetry anthologies to see how our understanding of what actually constitutes a ‘jazz poem’ has developed since the early 1920s.
