The article deals with the support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic and the European Union (especially in EURO AREA 19) by investing in research and development (RandD). The core work is to analyze the relationship between state investments in research and development and productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises in the euro area countries. Based on this analysis, recommendations are made, in what direction support for science and research should be promoted so that the support of SMEs is as effective as possible.
