Cultural tourism has recently experienced a significant development. This presents an opportunity for the regions affected by industrial restructuring, which entails a change in the perception of the cultural heritage of the affected area. The aim of this paper is evaluation of tourist attractiveness of the Karvina region in terms of spa and cultural tourism and research of visiting of selected cultural sites in the region. There is used a primary method data gathering, structured interviews, statistical data analysis, the method of a Defert function and the method of comparison and prediction. A care of cultural heritage raises awareness of the wealth of this region; it increases visiting sites and it has a regional and some of them have international significance too, especially for the nearby and border regions. For the Karvina region cultural wealth becomes an important part of the social perception of this region and it is a factor, which significantly develops tourism in connection with spas.
