Hlavním cílem výzkumného šetření bylo analyzovat sourozenecké vztahy v rodině, kde má jeden ze sourozenců Downův syndrom. Na základě hlavního cíle byly stanoveny cíle parciální, které měly zjistit, jak postižení ovlivnilo dětství intaktního jedince, jaký vliv má postižení na funkčnost rodinných vztahů a zda intaktní sourozenec plánuje svou budoucnost s ohledem na sourozence s Downovým syndromem. K dosažení cílů výzkumného šetření byla využita kvalitativní metoda s technikou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výzkumné šetření ukázalo, že vztah sourozenců z pohledu intaktního jedince je velice kladný a neustále se vyvíjí. Během dětství byl vztah hlubší, ale postupem času došlo k osamostatnění sourozenců a vztah již není tak intenzivní. Tyto vztahy jsou kladné především díky přístupu rodičů, kteří dávali všem svým dětem lásku, péči a porozumění a komunikovali se svými dětmi. Intaktní jedinci tak chápou postižení a potřeby svých sourozenců, chtějí s nimi zůstat v kontaktu, případně pokud toho nebudou schopni jejich rodiče, podporovat je či se o ně starat.

The main aim of the research study was to analyze sibling relationships in a family where one of the siblings has Down syndrome. Based on the main aim, partial aims were set to determine how disability affected the childhood of an intact individual, what impact disability has on family relationships and whether the intact sibling plans its future with respect to siblings with Down syndrome. To achieve the aims of the research study the qualitative method with the technique of semi-structured interview was used. The research study has shown that the relationship of siblings from the perspective of an intact individual is very positive and is constantly evolving. During childhood, the relationship was deeper, but over time the siblings became independent and the relationship is no longer so intense. These relationships are positive mainly because of the attitude of parents who gave all their children love, care and understanding and communicated with their children. Intact individuals thus understand the disabilities and needs of their siblings, want to stay in contact with them, or if their parents are unable to support them or take care of them
