Studie si klade za cíl popsat vznik, vývoj a provoz mateřských škol v Prešovském kraji v letech 1948 – 1960. Téma bylo zpracováno na základě dostupných archivních dokumentů, novinových článků a odborné literatury. Využili jsme především materiály z fondu Krajský národný výbor v Prešove, odbor školstva a kultúry (1949 – 1960) ze Štátneho archivu v Prešove. Opírali jsme se také o dobový tisk – především Učiteľské noviny, časopis Materská škola a jiná regionální periodika, ale také o odbornou literaturu zabývající se historií mateřských škol. Téma mateřských škol v Prešovském kraji po roce 1948 dosud nebylo zpracováno, studie tak přináší nové poznatky o dějinách předškolní péče. Text je doplněn tabulkami a dobovými fotografiemi.

Kindergartens in the Prešov Region during 1948 – 1960. The study aims to describe the origin, development and operation of kindergartens in the Prešov region during the years 1948 - 1960. The topic was processed on the basis of available archive documents, newspaper articles and scientific literature. We mainly used materials from the fund of the Regional National Committee in Prešov, Department of Education and Culture (1949 - 1960) from the State archive in Prešov. We also relied on periodicals - especially Učiteľské noviny (Teacher’s newspaper), a magazine Materská škola (Kindergarten) and other regional periodicals, but also professional literature dealing with history of kindergartens. The topic of kindergartens in the Prešov region after 1948 has not been processed, so the study thus brings new knowledge about the history of preschool care. The text has been enriched by tables and photographs from the selected period.
