The study presents the relationship of the Czechs to the Czechoslovak state in the years 1918-1992. It recalls the historical roots of this connection and at the same time draws attention to the changing interpretations of the Czech understanding of Czechoslovak statehood under the influence of changing national and international events in the years 1918-1992.
