PORTY. |

Nowadays time is a very rare phenomenon, it can be measured and every minute still has the same 60 seconds. But time cannot be seen, it cannot be grasped and it is very precious to all individuals in the world. In different situations time passes extremely fast and at other times it drags again for many reasons. In the field of nursing, time is irreplaceable and therefore, in acute situations with the critically ill, there is "no time to waste". A current trend in modern nursing is the possibility of introducing central venous access from the periphery, not only in cancer patients. In terms of time, these inputs are classified as so-called long-term venous inputs or PICCs and subcutaneous inputs called PORTS. They play an important role in long-term and frequent entries into the central circulation. These inlets are of great importance in oncology, especially when peripheral venous access cannot be adequately provided. It is safer and less complicated for patients to provide permanent access, mainly to prevent extravasation during the administration of cytostatics. Both PICC and subcutaneous PORT can contribute significantly to the quality of life of patients during cancer treatment. |
