Abstract
Dictionary entry. Arthur Willner (1881-1959) was a well-respected composer in the interwar period; his compositions were appreciated for the correspondence between a contrapuntal rigour and formal clarity on the one hand, and Romantic lyricism on the other. In the present day, however, Willner’s work is virtually forgotten.
