Abstract
The technological advances associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution are causing disruptive changes that are reflected at the national, industrial and corporate levels. Industry 4.0 strategy is the driving force behind the Fourth Industrial Revolution and is evolving at an exponential rate, and its adoption is necessary for the survival and competitiveness of the enterprise. There has been visible progress in the use of Industry 4.0 technologies, systems and processes abroad, as evidenced by the many studies and research that have been carried out. In the conditions of enterprises in Slovakia, this issue is still unexplored. For this reason, a quantitative research was conducted among enterprises in the mining industry, where we classified 35 enterprises based on the implementation of Industry 4.0. The intention of the paper was to determine and explicate the conceptual apparatus that identifies Industry 4.0 on the basis of a literature research and at the same time, through descriptive statistics, to classify the enterprises of the mining industry in Slovakia on the basis of the research results that anatomise the current state of the use of Industry 4.0.
