Abstract
This paper provides a corpus-based analysis of fitness terminology development, exploring the frequency, timeline, and international distribution of selected expressions and their possible modification due to the impact of the COVID-19 era on the current gym industry. The data are drawn from the News on the Web and the Coronavirus Corpus to map the potential rise or fall of the usage of fitness terminology before, during, and after COVID-19. The main prominence is placed on the historical milestones of selected terms and the origin and development from their early beginnings until the new era of progression of English fitness vocabulary.
