Settlement evidence from the beginning of the Early Bronze Age in the territory of Czech Silesia is extremely scarce. Isolated finds from this period are usually attributed to the so-called post-Corded Ware cultural complex, specifically to the Chłopice–Veselé and Mierzanowice cultures, whose precise chronological classification remains problematic. Finds of the Únětice culture from this region are typically dated no earlier than phase RB A2. During a revision of the archaeological collections held by the Silesian Museum in Opava, a surprising discovery was made: a set of finds from the site of Hradec nad Moravicí, long kept outside the attention of the scholarly community due to incorrect cultural-chronological classification, has now been identified as evidence of settlement activity dating to the beginning of the Early Bronze Age. This find significantly contributes to our understanding of Early Bronze Age occupation in the Opava Lowland and raises new questions about cultural interactions and settlement dynamics in this little-explored region.
