V tomto přehledovém příspěvku představujeme několik základních konceptů autora, jak je formulují různí představitelé literární vědy, teorie literatury, sémiotiky či multidisciplinárních přístupů. Po metaforické formulaci smrti autora R. Barthese se v literární vědě posiluje významotvorná role čtenáře, a to nejenom v recepční estetice kostnické školy, resp. v teorii estetického účinku W. Isera, ale i v sémiotických úvahách U. Eca a v teorii čtenářské odezvy S. Fishe. Nejvíce prostoru ale věnujeme popisu nedávné – a v našem prostředí ještě ne příliš známé – koncepci vtěleného čtenáře, kterou rozvíjejí (společně i samostatně) M. Caracciolo a K. Kukkonen. Ti ve svých přístupech vychází z poznatků kognitivní vědy druhé generace i z teorie kognice 4E a posouvají literárně komunikační paradigma k důrazu na tělesné (emoční) prožívání při procesu četby (interpretaci textu).

In this overview article, we present several basic concepts of the reader as formulated by various representatives of literary science, literary theory, semiotics, and multidisciplinary approaches. Following R. Barthes' metaphorical formulation of the death of the author, the meaning-making role of the reader has been strengthened in literary studies, not only in the reception aesthetics of the Constance school, or in W. Iser's theory of aesthetic response, but also in U. Eco's semiotic reflections and S. Fish's reader-response theory. However, we devote most space to describing the recent — and in our country even still not very well-known — concept of the embodied reader, developed (together and separately) by M. Caracciolo and K. Kukkonen. Their approaches are based on the findings of second-generation cognitive science and 4E cognition theory, shifting the literary communication paradigm towards an emphasis on physical (emotional) experience in the process of reading (and interpreting text).
