Posláním řady odborných monografií, které jsme nazvali „kompendia“, je zpřístupňovat aktuální poznatky z oblasti knihovnictví a informační vědy a praxe široké odborné veřejnosti, zejména však studentům bakalářského a magisterského stupně vzdělávání. Vydání řady kompendií iniciovalo vědecko-pedagogické oddělení knihovnictví a informačních studií Slezské univerzity v Opavě a vydávání kompendií se laskavě ujala naše partnerská Moravskoslezská vědecká knihovna v Ostravě. Cílem kompendií je poskytnout studentům souhrn poznatků a informací, které přímo souvisejí s mezinárodně uznávaným jádrem oboru knihovnictví a informační vědy. Jednotlivé autorské studie v řadě kompendií odpovídají tématům a disciplínám a akreditovaným předmětům vzdělávání ve studijním programu Knihovnictví a informační studia. Naší ambicí je shromáždit odborný obsah v kompendiích tak, aby pomohl studentům zvládnout základy oboru a nejnovější trendy pro státní závěrečné zkoušky.

The mission of a number of professional monographs, which we called "compendies", is to make available current findings from the field of librarianship and information science and practice to a wide professional public, especially to students of bachelor's and master's degrees. The publication of a series of compendia was initiated by the scientific-pedagogical department of librarianship and information studies of the University of Silesia in Opava, and the publication of the compendia was kindly undertaken by our partner Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library in Ostrava. The goal of the compendiums is to provide students with a summary of knowledge and information that is directly related to the internationally recognized core of the field of library and information science. Individual author studies in a number of compendiums correspond to topics and disciplines and accredited subjects of education in the Library and Information Studies study program. Our ambition is to collect professional content in compendia in such a way as to help students master the basics of the field and the latest trends for state final exams.
