Studie se zabývá anonymní rukopisnou autobiografií státního úředníka z druhé poloviny 18. století, dochovanou v někdejší zámecké knihovně ve Štáblovicích a dnes uloženou ve Sbírce rukopisů Zemského archivu v Opavě. Text Wahrhafte Lebens-Geschichte eines Ungenannten von ihm selbst beschrieben je analyzován jako ego-dokument pozdně osvícenské epochy, který umožňuje nahlédnout do mentality, sebestylizace a kariérních strategií středostavovského úřednictva v habsburském Slezsku. Studie kombinuje detailní rozbor obsahu rukopisu s rekonstrukcí profesní dráhy anonymního pisatele a na základě vnitřních indicií a konfrontace s úředními prameny dospívá k jeho jednoznačné identifikaci s Johannem Antonem Pohlem (1726–po 1802), dlouholetým představeným opavské Generální daňové účtárny.

The study examines an anonymous manuscript autobiography of a state official from the second half of the eighteenth century, preserved in the former castle library in Štáblovice and today housed in the Manuscript Collection of the Silesian Provincial Archives in Opava. The text Wahrhafte Lebens-Geschichte eines Ungenannten von ihm selbst beschrieben is analysed as an ego-document of the late Enlightenment period, offering insight into the mentality, self-fashioning, and career strategies of the middle-class bureaucracy in Habsburg Silesia. The study combines a detailed analysis of the manuscript’s content with a reconstruction of the anonymous author’s professional career and, on the basis of internal evidence and comparison with official records, arrives at his unambiguous identification as Johann Anton Pohl (1726-after 1802), long-serving head of the General Tax Accounting Office in Opava.
