Actively engaging with an image involves asking questions. When working with photography as an art medium—specifically with personal archive photographs—the artist often encounters a question from the viewer: ‘Where did you take this photograph? While the spectator seeks geographical or contextual anchoring for the photo, this question may be irrelevant to the artwork’s interpretation. Yet, this seemingly simple question reveals the viewer’s place concerning the artwork and discloses its encounter, shaped by their knowledge, experiences, and interpretations. Considering this premise, after the artist presents a specific photobook, the viewers/students will be invited to explore its concepts and meanings through questions. At the end, we will revisit the initial questions to determine whether they are still relevant and why.
