With the war in Ukraine and the arrival of tens of thousands of child refugees to the Czech Republic, many schools have encountered problems: What to do with them? The paper focuses on the issue of forced migration and its impact on children from the perspective of their mothers. Based on 15 in-depth interviews with immigrant-mothers, we describe the process of their children's adaptation in Czech schools, their educational strategies, social interactions between Czech and Ukrainian students, and the influence of family aspiration on migration decisions. Lack of support from the school can lead to children's isolation and unsuccessful integration; on the contrary, their satisfaction plays a key role in stabilizing life in exile for them and their families.
