Abstract

In the original language

In English

Brownfields represent significant threats to society on the one hand, because these unused and abandoned buildings and areas are associated with a number of socio-economic and environmental risks and problems, and at the same time, on the other hand, their successful renovation can hide the potential for future development not only of the property itself, but can have a positive impact on its immediate and wider surroundings. It is an indisputable fact that brownfields occur in the cadastres of cities and municipalities, often unevenly and have a number of specific features and differences. Since municipalities must by law create conditions for satisfying the needs of their citizens, including the protection of health and public order, they are often interested in regeneration. The aim of this conference contribution is the define legislative regulations that determine the rights and obligations of municipalities in the Czech Republic in relation to solving the problem of brownfields in their territory. However, this is not just a pure description of legal norms and regulations, but the rights and obligations of municipalities are specified in selected situations that can practically occur in brownfields.
