Abstract

In the original language

Research background: The resilience of social, political, and economic entities is influenced by the environment in which they are located. Current globalisation trends enable a high level of cooperation, on the other hand, they are under strong pressure from transnational interest groups. Economic performance in the global world is intensively supported by management tools and the digital environment. Still, the effectiveness of these tools is strongly degraded by directive interventions such as embargoes. Purpose of the article: As part of the research, we tried to identify historical parallels in the development of systems for managing company processes. As a starting point for the research, we chose the environment of socialist Czechoslovakia, which, like the current environment, was characterised by transnational governance, economic restrictions, and directive policies. Methods: The method of comparison and research in historical archives was chosen as the priority method. The research was focused on the comparison of environments and tools related to IT, identification of systems and technologies for business management, referred to as Automated Management Systems. Furthermore, the research focused on international cooperation and economic barriers. Findings & Value added: Research has shown that even current globalisation trends have their parallels in the past, historical development is determined not only by the resilience of economic entities and available technologies, but above all by socio-political interests. As part of the directive restrictions, not only the competitive potential of companies but also of the state can decrease.
