- Course objectives
- In this subject, we deal with computer networks. The goal is to get familiar with the concept and the architecture of computer networks including wireless networks, their types, common protocols, network devices, techniques of network administration.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the student will:
- be familiar with the concepts and architecture of computer networks.
- know the most important network protocols and mechanisms.
- master work with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
- know to solve basic issues related to network administration and configuration of common network devices. - Syllabus
- 1. How computer network works. Network hardware.
- 2. Protocols, standardization, ISO/OSI reference model. Protocol stacks, TCP/IP network model.
- 3. Network transfer characteristics, transfer paths.
- 4.–6. Local networks - Ethernet: frames, cables, half and full duplex.
- 7. Network and transport layer functionality, IPv4, IPv6, TCP connection.
- 8.–9. Network addresses and routing.
- 10. Application protocols, network services, DNS.
- 11. Wireless networks.
- 12.–13. Network security and network administration.

- Credit:
Compulsory attendance at seminars min. 75%. Written test and practical part of credit - crimping.
