Course objectives

One of a term aim of the course is to acquaint students with anthropology as a comprehensive science of man. Special attention is paid to the descriptive and functional anatomy of the skeletal system (human osteology) with reference to the most common pathological changes of locomotive system. Moreover, students are familiar with the methods of anthropological treatment of human skeletal remains (polling, laboratory treatment, estimate gender and age, metric evaluation) and the basics palaeodemography and Evolutionary Anthropology (phylogeny man and his ancestors). The course also includes exercises in which students apply the acquired knowledge on anthropological material.

Syllabus (in Czech)

• 1. Úvod do studia antropologie. Zařazení antropologie do systému věd. Rozdělení antropologie na podobory. Stručná historie světové a české antropologie.
  2. Orientace na lidském těle. Základní anatomické názvosloví.
  3. Humánní osteologie - stavba trupu (páteř a hrudník).
  4. Humánní osteologie - stavba kostí horní a dolní končetiny.
  5. Humánní osteologie - stavba lebky.
  6. Kosterní antropologie - typy pohřebního ritu, vyzvedávání kosterního materiálu.
  7. Kosterní antropologie - aspektivní hodnocení kosterního materiálu.
  8. Kosterní antropologie - metrické hodnocení kosterního materiálu.
  9. Kosterní antropologie - metody odhadu pohlaví na kosterním materiálu.
  10. Kosterní antropologie - metody odhadu věku na kosterním materiálu.
  11. Praktické cvičení I.
  12. Praktické cvičení II.
  Poznámka: Pořadí jednotlivých rozvrhových akcí bude stanoveno na základě aktuálních potřeb a možností.
