Course objectives
A seminar is focused on the refreshing and enhancing of knowledge of students about selected problems of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic research. In the frame of the post-graduate study has a character of specialization.
Syllabus
  • 1. Division of the Quarternary in relation to the development of Palaeolithic cultures
    2. Beginning of the Lower Palaeolithic in Europe.
    3. Non-utilitarian behaviour of Homo heidelbergensis.
    4. Adaptability of the Neanderthals during the Middle Palaeolithic
    5. Co-existence of the Neanderthals and Anatomically modern humans
    6. Cultural relations of Early Upper Palaeolithic period
    7. Identification of anthropological bearers of Early Upper Palaeolithic Cultures
    8. Specific technologies of the Gravettian
    9. Question of big game hunting in the Palaeolithic
    10. Interpretation of the Palaeolithic art
    11. Adaptability of hunter-gatherers in the Last Glacial Maximum
    12. Adaptability of hunter-gatherers in the Mesolithic
