Course objectives
This course covers the history of British literature from the beginnings to the mid-20th century. It pays attention to classical texts of British literature, e.g. Geoffrey Chaucer`s Canterbury Tales, or the development of Elizabethan poetry and drama. Particular attention is paid to the prosaic, dramatic and poetic production of post-war Britain. Literature: Burgess, A.: English Literature, Harlow: Longman, 1991.
