The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course acquaints with the essence, mission and goals of cultural interpretation with an emphasis on the field of cultural heritage. It draws attention to the basic presentation procedures (lecture, discussion, interpretation), interpretation technique and technology, the influence of contemporary communication media and the use of audiovisual means in interpretation. At the same time, it pays attention to the animation of material and spiritual culture and cultural heritage / monuments in terms of creative educational methods contributing to the dissemination of culture and knowledge about historical development and cultural heritage, which is becoming one of the mainstays of modern interpretation of cultural heritage (not only) in relation to children and youth.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to identify and describe various ways of presenting cultural heritage.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the study of the subject 2. Definition of the concept of interpretation, mission and aims of interpretation of cultural heritage.
    3. The concept of animation, its importance in the practice of cultural institutions, animation and education.
    4. Interpretation and communication - basics of social communication 5. Communication skills and rhetorical training 6. Basic presentation procedures - lecture, discussion, interpretation, interview 7. Interpretation technique and technology, the influence of contemporary communication media 8. Use of audiovisual media in interpretation.
    9. Interactive elements in cultural institutions and accompanying programs, methodology of animation programs.
    10. The person of the animator, his relations to the addressed community and the characteristics of the visitor
