Course objectives
The course will acquaint the students with classic pieces of English literature via their successful film adaptations. The students will discuss individual movies, their episodes, protagonists and themes. Additionally, the course will invite comparisons of the films and their literary origins. Classic texts of English literature will thus be viewed from the perspective of practical usage of language in various communicative situations as illustrated by particular film scenes.
Learning outcomes
Comprehension of the principles of cinematic rendition of a literary text. Comparison.
