- Course objectives
- The course will cover specific cultural and historical concepts through analysis of British and American pieces of literature and their film adaptations. The novels and films will be analyzed, compared, and discussed critically. The course will take the form of critical discussion in class and writing critical analysis essays. During the class, a short (approx. 200/300 words) critical appraisal shall be written. A second essay will be expected at the end of the semester.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the students will: - understand the relationship between the film and literary narration - understand the specifics of film and literary representation of reality - identify cultural and historical contexts presented by film and literary works - master the basics of film and literary critical terminology - be able to interpret film and literary text as a meaningful structure - improve their academic writing skills - be able to discuss topics in literary and film critical discourse
