Course objectives
Lecture course includes an explanation of Czech history from the 1780s to the 1930s. Attention will be paid to the formation of modern Czech society in the 19. century in the context of the development of Czech-German relationship in the Czech lands and the Habsburg monarchy. Problem areas focus on the issues of the pre-March period, the 1848 revolution, the Czech constitutional program, the liberalization and democratization of society, the formation of modern political parties, the nationalization of society in the 1880s, economic and cultural development of the Czech lands within the Habsburg monarchy. Subsequently, attention is paid to the origin and development of the Czechoslovak state in the years 1918-1938. The main problems of political, national and economic development, foreign policy orientation, national problems, political system, causes of the Munich treaty are monitored. Lectures are designed to require a more detailed study of the literature. The lectures are further developed by a seminar on the given issue.
