- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the problems of archeology of medieval Europe with an emphasis on the High and Late Middle Ages (about 11./13. Cent. 13./15 up. Century.) Extending into the early modern period. At the outset will be familiar with the terminology, the basic characteristics, as well as with the history of research, the development of natural conditions and the basic historical development. Students will also get acquainted with basic kinds and types of sites, with the most important examples of settlements (cities, towns, castles, fortresses, farms, villages, homesteads), dwelling, economic, social and other buildings, including their basic characteristics and major urban aspects.
