- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to apprise students with the development of the book as a communication medium and art object in the Czech and European environment. The introduction of the course writes written systems and documents in the period of ancient civilizations and writing fonts in the period of the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. Then it is discussed the development of the book from the point of view of its form, especially with useful writing materials, illustration techniques, bookbinding. The content of the last part of the course is an explanation of the development of book printing and its influence on the development of form and tasks in the modern age.
