Course objectives
The educational process focuses on developing students' critical analytical skills when working with historical sources. Students are guided towards a systematic and interdisciplinary approach in examining heraldic signs/coat of arms, seals, and genealogical connections. The goal is not merely to transmit theoretical knowledge, but primarily to teach students to think independently, interpret historical documents, and understand complex social contexts.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - master the basic terminology of heraldry, sfragistics, and genealogy - understand the historical context of the origin and development of these auxiliary historical sciences - comprehend methodological approaches and principles of research in the given fields - perform blazoning of coats of arms/heraldic signs - identify genealogical relationships and create family trees - apply knowledge from heraldry, sfragistics, and genealogy in historical research
