Course objectives
The seminar is aimed at developing high school German skills with a focus on vocational German for historians. Students will work with the Motive textbook in the seminar and during self-study. The textbook focuses on the development of all speaking skills based on authentic texts and in communicative situations, using current vocabulary and grammatical optima. In the first lesson, students will complete a placement test, based on which the appropriate section of the textbook will be selected. In the full-time classes, the emphasis will be on developing speaking, listening and correct pronunciation, while in the self-study classes, students will concentrate on reading and writing and practising the necessary vocabulary and grammar. In addition, students will work with professional texts, practise professional terminology and solve professionally oriented communicative situations according to the specifics of the study programme. The content is set for the Advanced B1/2 level. In case of insufficient initial knowledge, the course will be preceded by a grammar revision.
