Course objectives
A two- year seminar follows with two previous terms of lessons of Latin where students were introduced into basis of Latin grammar. It extends their knowledge of grammar, mainly the verb tenses and syntax, it focuses on individual work of students making them translate with a dictionary texts of antique authors, adequately adapted to their knowledge, later more attention is paid to work with original texts. With regard to the professional orientation of students who take this seminar it gradually aims at easier translations of middle ages texts, their vocabulary and grammar specifics.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. Substantiva IV. deklinace, substantiva V. deklinace.
    2. Časování slovesa esse, jeho odvozeniny.
    3. Deponentní slovesa.
    4. Stupňování adjektiv - pravidelné, nepravidelné, opisné časování.
    5. Užití komparativů a superlativů ve větě.
    6. Zájmenná adjektiva, zájmena záporná.
    7. Vedlejší věty účinkové, obsahové věty oznamovací.
    8. Zájmena neurčitá, zájmena vztažná.
    9. Nepravidelné sloveso ferre a jeho odvozeniny.
    10. Supinum I. a II., participia a jejich užití.
    11. Časování sloves s perfektním kmenem - aktivní tvary perfekta a plusquamperfekta.
    12. Číslovky základní, řadové a podílné.
