Course objectives
The lecture focused on disability phenomenon The Monumentic from antiquity through the Middle Ages to the early 20th century in Europe, especially in Central Europe. Emphasis is built on a tradition of Czech monumentického thinking, unfolding from the Central European context in which to develop science, culture and art of civil society (1850-1918).

  • 1. Ancient monuments, monuments of ancient cultures, the concept of antiquity and cultural heritage
    2. The Middle Ages and the protection of landmarks
    3. Renaissance - the birth of secular monumentiky, iconoclasm of the Reformation
    4. Baroque, historicism, provincial patriotism and ignite spirituality as expressions of contemporary thinking monumentického
    5. Enlightenment: monumentika as a product of Enlightenment rationalism and pragmatism, monumentika and aesthetics, classical archeology and art history
    6. Romanticism in Europe image of the past in the romantic imagination writters, thinkers, aestheticians, artists
    7. Civil society and the state conservation (1850-1918).
    8. Nongovernmental conservation in the Czech Republic (1780-1850)
