- Course objectives
- The course is aimed at improving skills of the student in English so that he/she would be able to effectively use English research literature, to prepare his/her own research articles, conference presentations, very good ability of professional communication, written and oral, related to typical situations at scientific conferences and research stays.
- Syllabus
- 1. Study of research texts in English and their presentations.
2. Written preparation of scientific texts describing research results, including abstracts and extended abstracts, a conference submission, a journal article preparation.
3. Oral an visual (slides) presentation of one's theses, lectures etc.

- Teacher's information
- 1. Student selects 60-100 pages in a suitable scientific monograph recommended by his PhD supervisor. He/she prepares reading of the text in English and its translation to Czech. The monograph will be available during the exam.
2. Student prepares a presentation about 15-minutes (in PowerPoint, PDF), introducing gis PhD thesis or a related scientific topic (as, e.g., a conference talk of the student). An English discussion with the examiner follows, oriented to research topics but also to other possible themes.
