- Course objectives
- The course provides an overview of the main American literary movements since the Colonial period. The main emphasis is placed upon the pluralistic nature of American writing from its very beginning until contemporary times. 1. Colonial Writings and the literature of Revolution 2. Transcendentalism 3. Beginning of American novel 3. Modern American Poetry 4. Realism and naturalism 5. Modernism 6. American drama until WWII 7. Postwar American drama 8. Postwar American poetry 9.
