Course objectives
The course focuses on human resource management as a strategic management activity in all types of organizations. The aim of the course is to familiarize with the development of the concept of human resources activities, with the basic characteristics, methods and procedures in the field of human resources, with modern approaches and trends in human resources management with emphasis on need for effective performance of managerial work. The course also includes self-management, i.e. forms and methods of self-awareness, self-reflection, self-awareness and self-evaluation as basic prerequisites for personal development. Students not only acquire theoretical knowledge related to human resource management, but also acquire a range of practical skills, including methods of self-awareness, self-evaluation, self-motivation, concentration of attention, self-regulation of emotions, methods of time management and coping with stress, conflict and frustration. It focuses on coping with daily responsibilities, tasks, negotiations, decision-making, behaviour, planning and meeting plans and deadlines, etc. On the basis of understanding oneself, the student is able to understand others, is able to solve problems constructively, is able to introspect, is able to control his/her emotions, is able to recognize which emotions prevail in his/her communication partner, and consequently chooses the appropriate way of communication. Understanding the objectives, content and subject matter is not only desirable in terms of a comprehensive university education; it is also an entry into the process of lifelong learning, which is essential in today's turbulent society.

  • 4. Planning, recruitment and selection of staff.
  • 5. Placement and dismissal of staff.
  • 6. Performance management and staff evaluation.
  • 7. Motivation programmes and staff rewards.
  • 8. Staff training and development, career management. 9. Health, safety and care of workers.
  • 10. HR information systems and HR documentation.
  • 11. Ethical dimension of human resource management, employee relations.
  • 12. Self-awareness and self-reflection.
