- Course objectives
- The aim of the seminar is to deepen students' ability to work with literary texts and analyze it in terms of form and content. The seminar focuses mainly on the literature of the 20th century.
- Learning outcomes
- Orientation in the contemporary English literature of various genres. The skill of critical analysis of literary texts.
- Syllabus
- 1.–2. Naturalistic and antinaturalist literature from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century (especially poetry)
- 3.–4. Expressionist literature (especially poetry)
- 5.–6. "New materiality" in literature (especially poetry and reports)
- 7.–8. Anti-fascist and exile literature (especially poetry and historical prose)
- 9. Literature in "Stunde Null" (especially poetry and short prose)
- 10. Documentary literature
- 11.–12. Politically engaged literature of the 1960s and literature "New subjects" (especially poetry)
- 13. Final discussion and summary
