Course objectives
The generally called seminar provides a teaching space in which the current resonant topics from political and cultural history up to the 18th century change, with an emphasis on the question of the meaning and identity of Central Europe and political ideology. Within the seminar, interdisciplinary approaches are introduced and developed together with students. Emphasis is placed on the critical reception of the outputs of domestic and foreign professional discussions and work with sources.

Syllabus
  • 1. Presentation of the objectives of the course with emphasis on the differences in the interpretation of monuments or the problems associated with them. 2. Selection of topics for seminar papers by students. 3. Exemplary presentation of a monument that is controversial in science, discussion of arguments and counter-arguments, search for ways of further research. 4-11. Presentation of individual topics by seminar participants 12-13. Mass discussion of discussed works and problems, discussion

Teaching methods
Written seminar work with the presentation of a significant monument or a group of monuments that have been studied for a very long time and which cause a lot of controversy. The student's task will be to gather research stimuli and penetrate the scientific discussion, organize arguments about the memory (artifact) and critically analyze the views of the researchers themselves (reflection on the history of histiography).

Written seminar work, active participation in seminars.
