- Course objectives
- The course acquaints students with modern trends of digitization in medicine, especially image information, acquisition modalities, information systems in medicine and the basics of medical information processing.
1. Knowledge of basic protocols and standards used in medical IS.
2. Specifics of selected medical modalities.
3. Basic processing of medical image data and biosignals. - Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
describe basic of protocols and standards used in medical IS;
describe the specifics of selected medical modalities;
describe and explain of the basic processing of medical image data and biosignals. - Syllabus
- 1. Information systems in medicine: definition, history
- 2. Acquisition systems in medicine
- 3. Communication and data standards for IS: HL7, DICOM 3.0 - digital display and communication in medicine introduction.
- 4. Measurement of biosignals (ECG, EEG, EMG)
- 5. Modality US
- 6. Modality CT
- 7. Modality MR
- 8. Modality SPECT
- 9. Processing and visualization of biosignals (ECG, EEG).
- 10. Processing and visualization of images in medicine (image information CT, MR, US, SPECT).
- 11. IS in medicine: hospital IS, radiological IS, archiving and communication system, laboratory IS.
- 12. Knowledge systems in medical informatics: learning systems, neural networks, expert systems, expert systems with uncertainty.
