Course objectives
The subject acquaints students with the manyparticle physics, leads to understanding of atoms, molecules and solids properties calculations.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- master Rayleigh-Schrödinger and Beillouin-Wigner perturbation theory;
- be able to determine energies and properties of manyparticle systems using Goldstone and Hugenholtz diagrams;
Syllabus
  • Main topics of the subject:
  • - Second quantization and occupy numbers representation,
  • - Fock space, creation and anihilation operators,
  • - Fermion and Boson Statistics,
  • - Operations with creation and anihilation operators, normal product and pairing, - Wick theorem,
  • - Rayleigh-Schrödinger and Beillouin-Wigner perturbation theory,
  • -Energy and properties of manyparticle systems using Goldstone and Hugenholtz diagrams.
