Course objectives
Course is focused on methods of numerical astrophysics and on understanding of basic equations of theoretical astrophysics
Learning outcomes
Student will understand equations of astrophysics and will be able to use numerical methods to solve them.
Syllabus
  • The course is organised as follows:
  • Fundamental equations of astrophysics
  • Numerical methods for solution of differential equations
  • Motion around central body, simulation of Solar system
  • Analytical solution of simplified problems and its role as test for numerical simulations
  • Many body problems
  • Hydrostatics and hydrodynamics
  • Equation of hydrostatic equilibrium and its numerical solution
  • SPH - smoothed particle
  • Stellar evolution and its numerical simulation
  • Spherical accretion and its numerical simulation
  • Radiative processes in astrophysics and their numerical solution
  • Gravitational collapse
  • Stellar binaries and their evolution
