Course objectives
The course Polish is conceived as a four-semester course whose aim is to provide the students with principal knowledge of Polish language which would then allow to manage common communication situations but also individual work with Polish text and finally also individual compositions of simpler texts. This aim corresponds to structure of lessons. The teaching of grammar will be supplemented by practical exercises which would reflect reached level. With respect to the fact that Polish is required not only in the frame of everyday communication, the attention will be paid also to managing of Polish linguistic terminology which would always correspond to given issue. The course Polish II follows the course Polish I. The interpretation of grammar will then logically develop and supply gained knowledge. The attention will be transferred from pronunciation to Polish spelling and the frame of the exercises, the large space will be given to training. The practical aspect will prevail still, from which the maximal involvement of students by the means of conversation is derivated. Grammatical, spelling and conversational exercises will be conceived in such a way so that the word stock in the frame of given topics will be developed.

  • 1. Adjectives (classification and description) - inflection and their 1st, 2nd and 4th case
    2. Nominal predicate and the 7th case of nouns and adjectives
    3. Gradation of adjectives and comparison
    4. Pronouns (description and classification) - personal, interrogative, demonstrative and reflexive
    5. Numerals (classification, description) - cardinal numerals 1-100 and their inflection
    6. Numeral and noun, predicative form
    7. Past time of verbs, past time of verbs być, iść
    8. Imperative, formation of questions with czy and with its omission
    9. 3rd and 6th case of adjectives
    10. Future time of verbs, of perfective verbs of I and III class and verb być
    11. 5th case of nouns and 5th case in context of commands and addressing
    12. Transgressive
