- Expert Knowledge: student is able to describe the transformation process in the countries of Central Europe
Expert Understanding: student is well informed about the issues of privatization, price liberalisation, the types and kinds of economic policies with the emphasis on structural policy in the individual stages of transformation of the economy.
General Competency: student is able to analyze mutual relationships of the individual transformation steps, with the application on concrete conditions of the countries of Central Europe.
Competencies: student is able to interconnect individual processes within the economic and social transformation, and is able to independently explain mutual causality of phenomena, to compare procedures, steps and results of economic reform in selected countries. Students are also able to adopt a critical stance on the course of transformation proces, especially in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

- Course objectives
- The aim of the subject is to analyze the transformation process in the countries of Central Europe. The individual stages of transformation will be described with respect to political environment, and the development of economic policies in selected countries will be presented.

- 1. Types of economy and their comparison.
2. The structure of economy. Structural policy.
3. Basic instruments of changing the ownership structure of economics.
4. Transformation and transformation process. Transformation strategy.
5. Privatization, the forms and methods of privatization, the choice of method of privatization.
6. Strategic enterprise companies in economics, their position and justification.
7. Price liberalization.
8. Decentralization.
9. The change of tax and social system.
10. Economic policy of transforming economies.
11. Macroeconomic indicators of transforming economies.
12. Foreign orientation of transforming economies.
13. Evaluating reforms in selected countries at the stage of transformation and today.

- Credit requirements:
During the term, students will be required to write and present a paper on the assigned topic, 3-5 pages in length, and at the same time, will lead a follow-up discussion related to the paper issues with his lecturer. The topics will usually present specifications of the content of previous lectures.
